Security is Possible Only If Borders Are Respected and Troops Do Not Clash in Proximity: Klaar on Latest Azerbaijani Provocation
Peace cannot be enforced by force. This was stated by Toivo Klaar, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia. He made this comment regarding the recent incident at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
“Today, we have again received alarming reports of three soldiers killed and one wounded. These and many other senseless casualties are fueling hatred and instability. Security is indeed only possible if borders are respected and troops do not clash in proximity; peace cannot be imposed by force,” Klaar noted on his Twitter page.
It is noteworthy that on September 28, Azerbaijani armed forces, which are unlawfully positioned within Armenia's sovereign territory, again violated the ceasefire regime by using mortars and large-caliber firearms, opening fire in the eastern direction of the border, resulting in the death of three individuals from the Armenian side.
