Local Government Elections in Eight Regions of Armenia
Starting this morning, local self-government elections have commenced in 18 communities across eight regions of Armenia. The council elections are being held through proportional representation in 17 communities. These communities include: Tsaghkahovit and Talin in Aragatsotn Province, Jambarak in Gegharkunik, Gyulagarak, Alaverdi, Lori Berd, and Tashir in Lori Province, Charentsavan, Akunk, Byureghavan, and Jrvaz in Kotayk Province, Ani in Shirak Province, Sisian and Kajaran in Syunik Province, Areni, Yeghhegis in Vayots Dzor Province, and Berd in Tavush Province.
In the Alagyaz community of Aragatsotn Province, the elections for the leader and members of the council are being held through a majoritarian voting system.
A total of 12 political parties have submitted and registered their candidacies for participation in the elections, including: Civil Contract, Bright Armenia, Country of Life, ARF, Republic, ANC, Stability, Just Armenia, Democratic Alternative, Armenian Dream, Uplift, and the Liberal Party. Additionally, there are 7 alliances of parties: Strong Community, Cohesion, Unity, Nation-Community, Towards Unity, Dignified Generation, and Powerful Community.
