Why the Names of the Fallen Soldiers Are Not Being Released – Journalist Karin Tonoyan
In Republic Square, in front of the Government building, citizens gathered today, September 16, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The leader of the '5165 Movement,' Karin Tonoyan, addressed reporters during a press briefing, referring to the behavior of the ruling party's representatives the day before.
“You know, it's very easy to hide behind the walls of the National Assembly and police barricades and bluster. I've been saying for the third day now: respected deputies, we are in front of the National Assembly every day, come out and speak face to face. Is there not a single man among you who can stand in front of me and say, 'Karin Tonoyan, you are preventing the people from uniting, releasing their anger?' They boast from their podiums, but no one comes out. Come out, don’t speak to me, tell your people what is happening. You have been deceiving us for years, lying and surrendering our country, killing our children, keeping the people in a constant atmosphere of fear, disbelief, and hatred towards each other. The people have elected you, why are you so afraid of the public? We have called on them to come out today, but only ten buses of police have arrived, and they are also children of Armenians, but we know why they came,” he stated.
In response to a journalist’s question about the absence of a list of the names of fallen servicemen being released, Karin Tonoyan said that this is the signature of the current government: “Manipulating the truth by continuously deceiving the people and hiding the truth.”
