Tragic Incident in Armavir Province: 19-Year-Old Drowns in One of the Lakes of Yeghgnut

A tragic incident occurred today in the Armavir province. Around 19:20, the Emergency Situations Ministry's Rescue Service received a call at the 911 crisis management center reporting that a citizen had drowned in one of the lakes in Yeghgnut village and that rescuers were needed to retrieve the body. This information was reported by Shamshyan.com.

According to the website, the rescue team from the special-purpose unit 18 conducted search operations for approximately 3 hours with a diver. The diver submerged several times, but visibility was very poor; nonetheless, about 3 hours later, the diver was able to locate the young man’s body.

Materials are being prepared regarding the incident, and a forensic examination of the body has been appointed. According to G. Shamshyan’s information, the drowned individual was 19-year-old Samvel V., a resident of Armavir city.

Those gathered at the scene stated that he had come to the area to swim with 4 friends. They had initially entered the lake, exited, and then re-entered. During this time, Samvel indicated that he was unable to get back out. His friends attempted to help him but were unsuccessful and immediately notified 911.
