Video: Drivers Forced to Block Kyiv and Davitashen Bridges; Criminal Case Initiated

The Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding incidents where vehicles were allegedly used to forcibly block traffic in various areas of Yerevan, under the pretense of participating in a political opposition rally.

Recently, information and videos have circulated on the internet, documenting attempts on May 4, 2022, to force drivers to block traffic on the Kyiv and Davitashen bridges in Yerevan as well as several streets using trucks.

Regarding this publication, data have been obtained indicating that the drivers of a truck belonging to a certain company, identified as an "Iveco" brand vehicle, and a "Mercedes-Benz" concrete mixer have blocked the segments of traffic on the Davitashen and Kyiv bridges. Additionally, the drivers of two other trucks from the same company, one of which was an "Iveco" concrete mixer, and the other was the same make of truck, blocked routes from Baghramyan Avenue to Kasyan Street and the Davitashen bridge, which disrupted normal traffic flow at the mentioned addresses, preventing citizens from moving freely.

As reported by the Public Relations Division of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, a criminal case has been initiated under the second sub-paragraph of the third part of Article 163 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. During the pre-trial investigation, the video disseminated online has been reviewed. Measures are being taken to verify the circumstances outlined in the publication and to ensure an objective and comprehensive investigation.
