EU Currently Not Considering Gas Supply Embargo on Russia, Says Commissioner
The European Union is currently not considering the possibility of imposing an embargo on gas supplies from Russia, but does not rule out such a measure in the future. This was stated by Paolo Gentiloni, the European Commissioner for Economic Affairs, after the Eurogroup meeting.
“The European Union must be prepared to pay the price for exerting economic pressure on Russia,” he noted.
According to Eurogroup President Paschal Donohoe, the finance ministers of EU countries will discuss new sanctions against Russia during a meeting scheduled for April 5 in Luxembourg.
