NATO Highlights Weapons to be Provided to Ukraine
NATO will provide Ukraine with means to defend against chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons, as well as cybersecurity measures. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg during a press conference following the alliance's emergency summit in Brussels on Thursday.
“We have decided to increase our support for Ukraine, including protection against cyber threats and defense against biological, chemical, and nuclear weapons,” he said.
Stoltenberg asserted that Russia is attempting to create a pretext for using chemical weapons in Ukraine. “We are concerned because we see Russia's rhetoric trying to create a pretext for using chemical weapons against Ukraine and NATO. We have seen similar attempts to create such pretexts in the past,” he noted.
According to Stoltenberg, the use of chemical weapons in Ukraine would “completely change the nature of the conflict and have widespread consequences.”
