Armenian-American Brothers Sue Beijing Olympic Silver Medalists
The musicians of the American band Heavy Young Heathens, brothers Robert and Aaron Marderosian, have filed a lawsuit against the American figure skaters Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier, silver medalists of the Beijing Olympic Games. This was reported by Court House News.
The lawsuit is based on copyright infringement. It is noted that the figure skaters performed to the song "The House of the Rising Sun", the music of which was written by the Marderosians, during the short program of the team competition.
The lawsuit was filed in the federal court of Santa Ana. The defendants include the American media holding NBCUniversal, Comcast, and the U.S. Figure Skating Association.
The musicians have asked the court for compensation for moral damages and to prevent further violations by the defendants. The amount of money requested has not been disclosed. NBC has already removed all materials of the skaters' performance from its website and social media.
Heavy Young Heathens is a musical collective that has been creating music for films, television shows, and advertisements for over 30 years.
