Argentina Condemns Installation of UK Air Defense Systems
The Argentine authorities are opposed to the installation of British air defense systems in the disputed Falkland Islands. This statement was published on Saturday by the Foreign Ministry of the South American republic, according to TASS.
"The Argentine Republic categorically does not accept the deployment of British military supplies in the Falkland Islands," the text states.
According to the ministry, the UK is installing Sky Sabre air defense systems on the islands. "This concerns yet another unjustified display of force and a deliberate evasion of the numerous resolutions of the UN and other international organizations that call for both Argentina and the UK to resume negotiations," added the Foreign Ministry.
The Falkland Islands, located in the southwestern part of the Atlantic Ocean, have been the subject of territorial disputes between Argentina and the UK for over 200 years.
