Car Explodes After Driver Strikes Match Inside Vehicle Post Refueling
This morning, on January 14, an emergency incident occurred in Yerevan. At around 00:50, the operational management center of the Armenian police received a call reporting an explosion heard on Tichin Street.
As reported by shamshyan.com, it was determined that, according to preliminary information, an explosion occurred in a Toyota Prado driven by 26-year-old Arthur A. as a result of a gas ignition.
While investigators were working on-site, at around 02:00, the Burn Center reported to the Malatya police department that a citizen had been admitted with "1st, 2nd, and 3rd-degree burns to the head, neck, and arms." It was found that the injured individual was Arthur A.
According to initial information, he had refueled his vehicle at a gas station and, after leaving, lit a match inside the car, triggering the explosion. The Malatya police department's investigative unit is preparing materials on the incident.
