Kazakhstan Authorities: Arrested Protest Participants Claimed They Were Paid and Given Energy Drinks
Kazakhstan's authorities have announced that those arrested during mass disturbances reported being paid and supplied with energy drinks, which led them to lose self-control. According to updated data, around 4,000 people have been arrested in the republic. This was reported in an article published by 'Газета.Ru'.
"Provocateurs were paid and supplied with drinks that caused them to lose self-control while participating in the disturbances," stated Shingiz Mukhan, the Deputy Head of the Shymkent administration.
In the same city, reports indicate that participants in the unrest were given weapons from vehicles without license plates, just before clashes with law enforcement ensued.
