VIDEO: Protesters Block Hospitals in Almaty, Kazakhstan

In Kazakhstan, protesters have blocked two hospitals in Almaty, namely the first and seventh hospitals, hindering the movement of patients and medical staff. Currently, nearly 400 injured individuals are receiving treatment in the republic's hospitals, with 62 of them in intensive care.

It is also reported that over 1,000 people have suffered as a result of the unrest in Kazakhstan, according to Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Mass protests in Kazakhstan began on the first days of January 2022. On January 4-5, clashes occurred between protesters and security forces in Almaty. Police used tear gas and stun grenades. Nationwide, internet connections have been cut off, and broadcasting on several television channels has been temporarily halted.

On January 5, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced a state of emergency that will last for two weeks. He has called for assistance from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). The CSTO has decided to send peacekeeping troops to stabilize the situation in Kazakhstan.
