Ministry of Defense to Announce Draft and Demobilization of Reserve Officers
The government decided in its meeting today, December 23, to announce a mandatory military conscription for male medical specialists registered in the reserve officer ranks of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, aged up to 35, starting from December 27, 2021, until January 31, 2022, inclusive. The service duration is set for two years.
The number of individuals subject to draft from the reserve officer ranks will not exceed 70 medical specialists. Within the framework of the reserve officer draft, soldiers who have completed mandatory military service according to the law on 'Military Service and the Status of Servicemen' will be demobilized by January 31, 2022, inclusive.
The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia has been instructed to send information about citizens avoiding the draft from the reserve officer ranks to the relevant structural divisions of the Police of the Republic of Armenia. After the completion of the draft, the relevant materials will be sent to the military investigative departments of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
The head of the Police of the Republic of Armenia and the director of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia have been instructed to strengthen control over the citizens subject to conscription during the draft to prevent cases of avoidance at the border communication lines of the Republic of Armenia.
