Will the Main Christmas Tree Be Installed This Year? City Hall Responds
A Christmas tree is likely to be installed in Republic Square this year. This was stated by Hakob Karapetyan, the spokesman for the Mayor of Yerevan, in an interview with "Armenian Time." He noted that a final decision will be made in the coming days.
“It is possible that the main Christmas tree will be placed for the children. Trees will also be installed in the administrative districts of Yerevan,” said Karapetyan, indicating that discussions are still ongoing.
When asked if any festive events are planned, Karapetyan responded, “We will make an announcement about this.” He added that if the decision to install the tree is made, it will be the one acquired in 2018.
It is worth noting that the City Hall of Yerevan spent 70 million drams on the installation of the country’s main Christmas tree. The main Christmas tree, which is artificial and produced in Russia, stands 35 meters tall. This cost includes transportation, assembly, 1,500 ornaments, and over 200 kilometers of LED lights. The funds were saved from the expenses allocated for the Erebuni-Yerevan celebration.
