US Aims to Hinder Launch of 3+3 Format, Says Zakharova
Russia expects the expedited launch of the "3+3" format (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Russia, Turkey, Iran) in the South Caucasus but is noticing attempts by Western countries to obstruct this process. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, during a weekly briefing.
"We see the ambition of several Western states, primarily the US, to hinder certain processes, simply putting sticks in the wheels of this initiative," Zakharova noted. "We are focusing on the prompt launch of the '3+3' consultative regional mechanism for the benefit of all its participants."
She mentioned that the American side is engaging in disinformation to obstruct the mechanisms, attributing the initiative's foundation to Moscow.
The diplomat reminded that the idea for creating such a mechanism was proposed by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey, Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
