August 24 Will Be One of the Most Disgraceful Pages in Parliamentary History: Statement
Today, the "Honorary Power" and "Armenia" factions issued a joint statement regarding the events that took place in the National Assembly. The opposition factions of the parliament strongly condemn what happened today, describing it as "shameful violence against lawmakers."
"We record that August 24 will become one of the most disgraceful pages in parliamentary history, when, with illegal orders from a group of individuals claiming power, a crime was committed against democratic and parliamentary values with gross violations of the Constitution and laws in the legislative body of the Republic of Armenia," the statement reads.
The opposition factions emphasize that the propaganda of violence and the atmosphere of hatred in Armenia have a single source. According to them, this is the "Civil Contract" party, led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. They characterize today's events as a crime. They assure that they will be persistent in holding those who committed the crime accountable both politically and legally.
