Hayk Marutyan Tours Yerevan Metro with Charles Michel
During an official visit to Armenia, Charles Michel, President of the European Council, toured the Yerevan Metro alongside Mayor Hayk Marutyan. Marutyan shared details of the visit on his Facebook page.
“The European Union is one of the most important partners for the Yerevan community. Specifically, through EU grants and loans from European financial institutions, the Yerevan Metro has been modernized for decades, with updates made to trains, escalators, security systems, and more,” Marutyan noted.
He expressed his deep satisfaction to President Michel regarding the EU's development program for Armenia amounting to €2.6 billion, which will specifically address green development in Yerevan. “This will allow Yerevan to further advance our initiatives on waste sorting and recycling, as well as to give new impetus to energy efficiency, the smart city concept, the development of green transportation, and many other projects,” he added.
