Identity of the Deceased and Injured in Tragic Accident-Fire in Aragatsotn Province Revealed

According to the decision of Samvel Simonyan, head of the Aragatsotn regional investigation department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, an investigative group has been created under the leadership of Joseph Hovhannisyan, a senior investigator dealing with especially important cases in the same department. Within the framework of the criminal case initiated under Part 2 of Article 242 of the RA Criminal Code, the identities of the deceased and the injured in the tragic accident-fire that occurred in Aragatsotn province yesterday, June 17, have been established.

It has been determined that the Opel was driven by 33-year-old Ashot Torosyan, a resident of Aragatsotn province, while the Mercedes was driven by 29-year-old Mikael Melkonyan, also a resident of the province. As a result of the accident-fire, A. Torosyan and his passengers, residents of Aragatsotn province, 32-year-old Tatevik D. and 2-year-old Maria T., were transported to the ‘Ashtarak’ medical center with the assistance of citizens. Meanwhile, the charred body of the driver, M. Melkonyan, was discovered inside the burned Mercedes.

It is worth mentioning that yesterday, June 17, a severe and tragic accident-fire occurred in Aragatsotn province. Around 21:00, a collision took place between a Mercedes and an Opel at the 52 km mark of the Margarita-Vanadzor-Tashir motorway. As a result of the collision, the Mercedes left the roadway, ended up in a field, and caught fire. The vehicle was completely reduced to ashes, and firefighters from the Aragatsotn regional rescue department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations discovered the driver’s charred body when they arrived. Three individuals were transported to the ‘Ashtarak’ medical center with the help of citizens.
