The Speed of CSTO Actions Does Not Satisfy Us: Pashinyan
In the area known as Lake Sevan, the aim of Azerbaijan's actions is to provoke a military clash and establish a presence from Lake Sevan to the Bichanek area, said Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a Q&A session with the National Assembly.
"There is much talk about the fact that the Armenian army is not taking military action but is addressing the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). It is precisely the CSTO and our partner countries in that organization that have urged Armenia not to resolve the situation through military means," he said.
According to Pashinyan, Armenia's decision to refrain from a military solution also aims to prevent CSTO countries from being inadvertently drawn into a military resolution. "This is why we say, let’s resolve this issue through a political path, because it can be resolved. At this moment, the speed of CSTO actions does not satisfy us, but we will continue to work diligently in that direction. I do not consider the preliminary plan that, in my opinion, Azerbaijan has, neutralized at this time. Our partners should express a clear stance on that plan," he stated.
Pashinyan also emphasized that the CSTO and its member states have not clearly stated that Azerbaijan should withdraw its troops. "At the working level, that position is expressed, but it is not publicly stated. In these matters, clarity must be introduced," said the Acting Prime Minister.
