Aliyev Believes Armenia Must Show Political Will
The signing of a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia is possible, and it would make the free trade between the two countries and Georgia a reality, but for that, political will from Yerevan is necessary. This was stated today by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during a conference dedicated to the development and prospects of cooperation in the South Caucasus, which was broadcast on the Azerbaijani president's YouTube channel.
“A peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan is possible. Moreover, the signing of that agreement is feasible within a relatively short period. What is currently lacking is the political will from the Armenian side,” said Aliyev.
He believes that if a peaceful resolution is achieved, the next step could be free trade among the three South Caucasian countries.
Aliyev also stated that Azerbaijan can supply energy resources to Armenia, recalling that this was the case during the Soviet era.
