Russia Warns Its Citizens in Turkey
The Russian Embassy in Turkey has responded to the assault on Russians in Istanbul. The embassy's statement urges tourists to avoid making contact with suspicious individuals, stay away from people with mental disabilities, refrain from visiting locations of protests and gatherings, and especially to avoid less populated streets during evening and night hours.
Vladimir Zhirinovsky, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, has also advised Russians against traveling to Turkey. 'There is no need to go to Turkey, the most treacherous country,' said the political figure while commenting on the situation.
It should be noted that in Istanbul's Beşiktaş district, a waste collector named Hasan Hussein attacked three Russian citizens with a knife, injuring them so severely that they were hospitalized. Reports indicate that the assailant suffers from a mental disorder and has been previously convicted for 26 crimes.
