Armenians Ready to Move to Artsakh en Masse for Russian Passport
Armenians are prepared to relocate to Artsakh en masse in pursuit of Russian passports. This is reported by Wargonzo, citing military commander Timofey Ermakov. It is noted that there have been discussions in Stepanakert, Askeran, and Martuni about this trend.
It is believed that if the decision to grant Russian citizenship is made, based on the principles applied in Nagorno-Karabakh, Abkhazia, and South Ossetia, it will truly provide security guarantees for people living in disputed territories. After all, cluster munitions have already targeted residents of this unrecognized republic (including its closest neighbor, Armenia). This significantly differs for citizens of the Russian Federation.
The urgent need for official recognition of Artsakh becomes less critical; the primary concern is citizenship. Ordinary people in central Armenia understand this well, regardless of certain politicians who do not wish to be “under Russia.” As rumors circulate, individuals are calling the passport offices in Stepanakert to inquire how to obtain residency permits for Artsakh.
