Briton Offers $75 Million to Search for Lost Bitcoins in Landfill
A British man accidentally threw away a hard drive containing bitcoins worth $280 million. The incident occurred in 2013, but only now has James Howells approached the Newport authorities to allow him to search for the device in the landfill, offering $75 million for the opportunity, according to CNBC.
Howells possessed 7,500 bitcoins, which would be worth over $280 million at today’s prices. According to him, the only way to regain access to them is through the hard drive he discarded eight years ago.
