At Least 13 Dead in Japan Due to Heavy Snowfall; Hundreds Injured
At least 13 people have died in Japan, and over 250 others have been injured due to record heavy snowfall, reports Mehr news agency.
The authorities of three prefectures most affected by the natural disaster have appealed to the national government for assistance. More than 1,200 vehicles were trapped in the snow on highways.
Officials in the affected regions of the Land of the Rising Sun are advising residents to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.
