Elevators Suitable for Wheelchairs to Be Installed in Buildings of War-Injured Youth, Says Mayor
I've already spoken with the Minister of Social Affairs and asked him to make final adjustments and provide us with the list of all the boys living in Yerevan who have acquired disabilities during the war. With the savings of city hall staff, we will install elevators in all buildings that will allow wheelchair access. This was stated today by the Mayor of Yerevan, Hayk Marutyan, during a session of the city council, discussing support for citizens affected by the war.
“The sacrifices our brothers and sisters have endured are significant; many have unfortunately lost their children, fathers, and mothers, and many are left without their sole providers. This is quite heavy, a national tragedy, and the city hall must not remain indifferent and should contribute to their support. We will address the problems in a targeted manner, fully, naturally within our capabilities,” he said.
Hayk Marutyan noted that recently no bonuses have been distributed at the city hall, and those savings will be directed towards a worthy cause. He thanked all the employees who have been ready to assist with this issue.
Marutyan also addressed the issue of replacing old elevators with new ones throughout the city, mentioning that this week a tender will be announced for replacing another 100 elevators from 2021.
