In an effort to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Artsakh continues its anti-epidemic measures. From October 1 to date, specialists from the "Center for Epidemiology and Hygiene" of the Ministry have conducted 2,585 tests.
A total of 1,130 individuals have been confirmed to have contracted the new coronavirus infection. Currently, an average of 60-70 tests are performed daily. According to the results of laboratory research, mild cases among the confirmed individuals have received outpatient treatment at home, while severe cases have been treated in a hospital setting.
From October 1 to December 21, a total of 232 patients have been hospitalized with COVID-19 in the Republican Medical Center, and 129 citizens have recovered. At present, 60 patients are receiving treatment. There have been 30 recorded deaths, primarily among the elderly, who had contracted the coronavirus; however, their deaths were attributed to chronic accompanying illnesses and multiple organ failure.
In the infectious diseases department of the "Arevik" medical union, 51 patients have been treated, of which 48 have been discharged in improvement, while 3 have been transferred to the Republican Medical Center due to worsening health conditions.
It is noteworthy that a mobile fluorography device has been installed in the infectious diseases department of the "Arevik" medical union, which allows for better organization of the movement of patients with COVID-19.
Disinfection operations have been carried out by specialists from the "Center for Epidemiology and Hygiene" in confirmed outbreak locations, food establishments, schools, and kindergartens.
