French President Visits Headquarters of Armenia Foundation's French Branch
French President Emmanuel Macron visited today the headquarters of the Armenia Foundation's French branch to support the annual fundraising telethon for the Armenian community in France. This year, the telethon is dedicated to the needs of the tens of thousands of Armenians displaced and impoverished as a result of Azerbaijan's military aggression against Artsakh, aided by Turkey and mercenary terrorists on September 27.
The Armenian Embassy in France has reported this. AFP has reported that President Macron stated, "France's humanitarian commitment is an immediate obligation towards the 120,000 displaced Armenian population from Artsakh and the seven districts returned, as well as at least 1 million Armenians who find themselves in a difficult situation in Armenia." The first aircraft carrying humanitarian aid from the French government and the Armenia Foundation's French branch will depart for Yerevan tomorrow, November 22, and the second on November 27. The humanitarian cargo will be delivered to Armenia by well-known French-Armenian football player and 1998 World Cup champion Youri Djorkaeff.
In addition to addressing humanitarian aid, President Emmanuel Macron specifically stated, "France demands that the conditions of the ceasefire established following the military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh on November 9 also apply to the region's Armenian cultural and historical heritage to prevent its destruction." President Macron reaffirmed France's desire to include the trilateral statement signed between Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan within the framework of international oversight.
