A Heavy Decision for All of Us: I Have Signed a Statement on Ceasing the Artsakh War with the Presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan at 01:00 AM – Nikol Pashinyan
Dear compatriots, sisters, and brothers. I have made a heavy, extremely difficult decision for myself and all of us. This was announced by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
I have signed a statement on ceasing the Artsakh war with the Presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan at 01:00 AM. The text of the declaration, which has already been made public, is unimaginably painful for me personally and for our people.
I made this decision based on a deep analysis of the military situation and the assessments of those most knowledgeable about that situation. I also relied on the conviction that in the current circumstances, this is the BEST possible resolution.
I will provide a detailed message about all of this in the coming days.
This is not a victory, but there is no defeat as long as you do not recognize yourself as defeated. We will never recognize ourselves as defeated, and this must mark the beginning of our national unification and the era of rebirth.
We must analyze our years of independence to plan our future and avoid repeating the mistakes of the past.
I bow before all our martyrs. I pay my respects to all those soldiers, officers, generals, and volunteers who have defended and continue to defend the homeland with their lives. Their selflessness has saved the Armenian community in Artsakh.
We fought to the end. And we will win. Artsakh stands firm.
Long live Armenia! Long live Artsakh!
