Russia is doing everything possible to support Armenia in this situation: Prime Minister
Armenia is generally satisfied with the quality of Russia's alliance commitments. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this in an interview with The Jerusalem Post.
The journalist inquired about the kind of support Armenia expects from Russia, to which Nikol Pashinyan replied, "You know, we have allied relations with the Russian Federation and we have a cooperation agreement. This agreement provides for a joint response to common security challenges. During this time, I have been in constant contact with the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. We have been continuously consulting and monitoring developments. And since military operations have approached the borders of Armenia, posing a threat that these operations could present an immediate danger to Armenian territory, we have initiated the procedures provided for by the agreement in order to continue our consultations on further management of the situation."
Overall, I can say that Russia, in this situation, is doing everything possible to support Armenia at this moment. And Armenia is generally satisfied with the quality of Russia's fulfillment of its alliance obligations towards Armenia.
When asked whether he considers it likely that Russia would send troops to the Armenian border within the framework of the security mechanism he mentioned, the Prime Minister of Armenia responded that Russian troops are already at the borders of Armenia, and this is not news. "They have always been here, and Russia has its 102nd military base in Armenian territory. Besides the 102nd military base, I have already mentioned that the borders of Armenia, particularly the borders with Turkey and Iran, are being protected by Russian border troops. And now Russian border guards also have representatives in other sections of our border," Nikol Pashinyan noted.
