Lavrov Highlights Participation of 2000 Mercenaries in Nagorno-Karabakh
About 2000 mercenaries from the Middle East are participating in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview with Kommersant newspaper.
“We are certainly concerned about the internationalization of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the involvement of militants from the Middle East. We have repeatedly called on external actors to use all their capabilities to prevent the transfer of mercenaries, whose number in the conflict zone has already reached two thousand according to available data,” Lavrov remarked.
This topic was specifically addressed during the phone conversation on October 27 between President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as well as during communications with the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia. “We consistently continue to advance our position through various channels,” he added.
