International Organizations to be Informed About the Use of Prohibited Weapons by Azerbaijan
The Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, stated on his Facebook page: "Yesterday and today, objective evidence was released regarding the use of mass destruction weapons containing chemical elements by the Azerbaijani armed forces in Artsakh. At that moment, information was disclosed indicating that the weapon in question contains phosphorus. Following that, a number of publications emerged suggesting that the discussion may encompass other chemical substances contained within mass destruction weapons. In any case, it should be noted at least the following:
- A weapon of mass destruction is being used,
- It contains chemical elements,
- The weapon is employed against forests, causing massive wildfires and destruction,
- The fire sparked by this weapon cannot be extinguished even by the substances or water designated for extinguishing fires, according to professional assessments,
- The forests affected by these substances are located near civilian settlements (currently reported in the regions of Shushi, Martakert, and Askeran),
- According to investigative work, peaceful residents are also taking shelter in the forests from Azerbaijani armed attacks.
The use of such a weapon under these conditions is prohibited by international law. Joint studies are currently being conducted in the offices of the Human Rights Defenders of Armenia and Artsakh, and the results will be published and sent to international bodies according to jurisdiction."
