If the Caucasus Turns into Syria, God Help Us All: President's Remarks to CNN
The President of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, stated in an interview with the renowned American television network CNN that if the international community does not stop Turkey, the Caucasus could turn into a new Syria. According to Armenpress, Sarkissian emphasized that he has raised this issue in discussions with various country presidents and prime ministers.
"I have talked about this with many presidents and prime ministers from different countries. I have asked them to intervene and exert pressure on Turkey to halt its interference in the region, as this country's involvement elevates the conflict to another level in terms of scale and could turn the Caucasus into a new Syria," Sarkissian said.
The president noted that if the Caucasus becomes a new Syria, it would also affect Europe and other regions. "If the Caucasus turns into Syria, God help us all, God help Europe, God help Central Asia. It will affect everyone, including Turkey, Iran, and Russia. If Turkey is restrained with the help of Russia, the USA, and France, we will have the opportunity to return to the ceasefire and the negotiation table, because this conflict has no military solution; it can only have a peaceful, diplomatic resolution," the president added.
