Armenian Chess Players Criticize FIDE
Members of the Armenian national chess team Levon Aronian, Elina Danielyan, and Gabriel Sargsyan have criticized the International Chess Federation (FIDE). Aronian posted on his Twitter page, "One must assume that, as always, some of us are less well-connected to the internet than others. 1984 (referring to George Orwell's work)."
Danielyan stated in a Twitter post, "Does FIDE really think they are the smartest ones, while others are fools?" Sargsyan wrote on his Facebook page, "What a disgrace. Arkady Dvorkovich and Emil Sutovsky, you have failed. You have shown the entire chess world that you lack moral principles."
Recall that earlier we reported that in the quarterfinals of the World Chess Olympiad, Armenia's opponent was India. In the first phase of the match, the Armenian team suffered a loss; however, our delegation protested Haik Martirosyan's game due to an issue with the online program, which prevented the Armenian chess player from making his move. After the protest was rejected, the Armenian team withdrew from participating in the Olympiad.
