‘Joxovurd’. Why Government Candidate Vahram Avetisyan Refused to Become a Constitutional Court Judge
‘Joxovurd’ newspaper has discovered new details regarding why government candidate Vahram Avetisyan declined to become a judge of the Constitutional Court. It was noted that he declared yesterday that he finds receiving 80 votes in the National Assembly unrealistic and participating in the subsequent process for the election to the Constitutional Court as pointless.
It is known that most members of the ruling ‘My Step’ faction received the government candidate coldly, and dissatisfaction had been growing in various circles regarding him. After holding several meetings and understanding the situation, the ruling faction recognized that it was becoming impossible to manage the faction and secure votes in favor, and conveyed this honestly to the government.
Accordingly, they advised the already former candidate, Avetisyan, to withdraw, and he agreed. Now, according to ‘Joxovurd’ newspaper's information, the government is searching for a new candidate; however, the ruling team wants to do everything to ensure that it is not Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan's candidate. For some, even the candidacy of former Minister of Justice Artak Zeynalyan is preferred. At the same time, it should be emphasized that Vahram Avetisyan's failure is the result of lobbying by Constitutional Court Judge Vahe Grigoryan.
