Criminal Proceedings Initiated Following Soldier's Death: Investigative Committee

The Investigative Committee reports that a criminal proceeding has been initiated regarding the death of a soldier from military unit N of the Ministry of Defense on August 13.

According to the IC, necessary investigative and procedural actions are currently underway. Earlier, the Ministry of Defense had announced that on August 13, the body of soldier Grigor Edgari Zakaryan from military unit N was discovered with a gunshot wound.

“An investigation is underway to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident,” stated the Ministry of Defense, expressing condolences and support to the soldier's family members, relatives, and comrades.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had also addressed questions from journalists regarding similar incidents involving soldiers' deaths. “We discussed the situation in the morning with the Minister of Defense; there will be specific personnel changes in the near future. There will be changes in the military police,” Pashinyan said.
