From September 1, the one-time childbirth benefit will be 500,000 drams

Starting from September 1, 2026, the one-time childbirth benefit for children born on or after that date will be set at 500,000 drams, regardless of the order of the child in the family. The relevant decision was adopted at the government meeting.

For children born by August 31 inclusive, the existing benefits based on the order of the child will continue to apply. The new benefit amount of 500,000 drams will not have retroactive effect.

With this amendment, parents will be able to apply for the benefit until the last day of the month following the child's first birthday. The assignment of the benefit will mainly be transferred to the online platform; if the necessary data is available, the system will assign or reject it automatically without the intervention of a specialist.

There will also be exceptions, including for certain diplomatic personnel, children born abroad and registered there, guardians, as well as situations where there is insufficient data in state systems.

If a child's birth is registered in a foreign country, the child must have an Armenian passport to receive the benefit, and at the time of application, both the parent and child must be located in Armenia, with specified exceptions.
