Extension of the State of Emergency Means Restrictions Until Mid-September, Says MP

Currently, the extension of the state of emergency by another month means that restrictions will be in place at least until mid-September, which in turn suggests that there will likely be delays in classes at general education institutions and universities (if that's not the case, please let us know).

This was stated by Anna Kostanyan, a member of the National Assembly from the 'Enlightened Armenia' faction, on her Facebook page. She specifically stated: “The educational institutions under the municipal authorities, such as art schools, are in an unclear situation, therefore, parents cannot decide whether to continue their children's lessons or to stop them. In the case of the former choice, parents will be obliged to pay for the courses, but by mid-September it may become clear that children will once again have to engage in dance, singing, painting, musical instruments, fine arts, and other various activities remotely, which is of course ineffective, especially in the case of dance, and not only.

If they choose the latter option, they will still have to take a one-year deferral, but if it turns out in September that classes are resuming normally, it means that children will lose a whole year unnecessarily since they won’t be able to reinstate their spots in groups by mid-September.

Until now, the government should have already clearly decided how schools, branches of art, and universities will return to their regular operations starting in September. During the previous extension of the state of emergency, that is, at least a month ago, Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan answered my question about what sectors would be reviewed for reopening by stating: EDUCATION and CULTURE.

So far, there is no clarity on what parents should do. There are thousands of questions to plan, implement, or not to implement. Will you finally provide clarity so that people understand what and how they will proceed?”
