URGENT: The Number of Armenians Killed in the Lebanon Explosion Reaches 11
The number of Armenians killed in the explosion at the port of Beirut, Lebanon, has reached 11, with hundreds more injured. This information was shared with 24News by Sepuh Kalpakyan, president of the Lebanese executive body of the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party and a former member of parliament.
“This information is still preliminary; it is currently known that there are 11 Armenian victims, and there are hundreds of injured,” he remarked.

On the evening of August 4, a powerful explosion occurred in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab reported that the explosion was caused by the improper storage of 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate. The President of Lebanon convened an emergency meeting of the Security Council. A state of emergency has been declared. August 5 has been announced as a day of mourning in the country. According to the latest reports, the death toll has exceeded 100, and more than 4,000 people have been injured.
