Robbery Attack in Syunik: Charges Filed Against Two Individuals
On March 31, 2020, at 10:33 AM, a resident of the Syunik province reported to authorities that some individuals had entered a neighbor's house and committed theft.
Following an investigation initiated by the Syunik Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee regarding the incident, it was established that a resident of Syunik, having reached a preliminary agreement with an acquaintance to commit a robbery against a female villager, lay in wait outside on March 30, 2020. The acquaintance illegally entered the aforementioned woman’s apartment by removing a glass window from the bathroom, and under the threat of violence with a kitchen knife, stole gold and silver jewelry, as well as a mobile phone, causing significant property damage. The two then fled the scene.
Based on the combination of sufficient evidence obtained, one of the alleged perpetrators has been charged under the 175th article (robbery) clauses 3 and 4 of the RA Criminal Code, while the other is charged under the 38-175th article (accessory to robbery) clauses 3 and 4 of the same code. The investigation is ongoing.
Notice: A suspect or accused person is considered innocent until proven guilty by a final court decision in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
