Vardenyats Pass Closed

The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that as of February 22 at 18:05, there are closed and difficult traffic routes in the territory of Armenia. The roads leading to Amberd Fortress and Kar Lake in the Aragatsotn region will remain closed for an indefinite time.

The Vardenyats Pass is closed for trucks and impassable for other vehicles. The Sotk-Karvachar highway is difficult to traverse for trucks.

Regarding Lars, according to information received from the Emergency Situations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open for passenger cars but closed for trucks. The Crisis Management Center of the Russian Federation reported that there is a backlog of 656 trucks on the Russian side.
