Another 60 Passengers on Japan's Cruise Ship Test Positive for Coronavirus

The number of individuals infected with the novel coronavirus on the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan's waters has increased by 60 on Monday, reaching a total of 130, according to channelnewsasia.com.

Previously, it was believed that of nearly 3,700 people on board the cruise ship, 70 passengers and crew members were infected. A quarantine has been established on the ship until February 19, which may be extended.

As Japan's health minister Kazu Nobu Katō earlier reported, before disembarking all passengers and crew members of the Diamond Princess cruise ship, Japan is considering testing all individuals on board for the coronavirus. Previously, tests had only been conducted on a portion of the passengers and crew, who had been in prior contact with infected travelers from Hong Kong.

The remaining individuals have their body temperatures checked every four hours, and in the case of symptoms, they are expected to inform the ship's administration.

Since the discovery of the first patient infected with the new coronavirus, the Diamond Princess cruise ship has been moved to a quarantine zone at Yokohama port.
