Criminal Case Initiated Following Deaths of Contract Soldiers Due to Avalanche

On February 7, 2020, at around 5:00 PM, during the change of guard at the combat positions of Military Unit N of the RA Ministry of Defense, due to an avalanche, a criminal case has been launched regarding the deaths of contract soldiers Karapet Sedraki Nazaryan, Tigran Armen Arzumanyan, Nver Tigrani Shahbazyan, and the injuries sustained by Hamlet Greniki Mirzoyan. The case was initiated by the Ninth Field Investigation Division of the Military Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee under Article 376, Part 2 of the RA Criminal Code regarding the negligence of a state or official towards service that has resulted in severe consequences. An investigation is underway.

It is worth noting that yesterday, as a result of search and rescue operations, the bodies of the contract soldiers trapped under the avalanche have been found: Private Karapet Sedraki Nazaryan (born 1991, serving in the armed forces since 2018, from Kashatagh), Junior Sergeant Tigran Armen Arzumanyan (born 1994, serving in the armed forces since 2018, from Syunik), and Junior Sergeant Nver Tigrani Shahbazyan (born 1995, serving in the armed forces since 2018, from Syunik).
