Tragic Incident in Syunik: Four Servicemen Buried Under Avalanche, Three Confirmed Dead
On February 7, at around 16:50, four contract servicemen were trapped under an avalanche in the protective area of military unit N in Syunik province of Armenia.
During the search and rescue operations, the bodies of the trapped servicemen were discovered. They have been identified as Private Karapet Nazaryan (born 1991, serving since 2018, from Kashatagh), Junior Sergeant Tigran Arzumanyan (born 1994, serving since 2018, from Syunik), and Junior Sergeant Nver Shahbazyan (born 1995, serving since 2018, from Syunik).
Furthermore, contract serviceman Private Hamlet Mirzoyan (born 1998, serving since 2018, from Syunik) was successfully rescued from the avalanche. The rescued serviceman has sustained minor injuries, and his health condition is assessed as stable.
An investigation is underway to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
The Ministry of Defense of Armenia extends its deepest condolences to the families, relatives, and fellow servicemen of Private Karapet Nazaryan, Junior Sergeant Tigran Arzumanyan, and Junior Sergeant Nver Shahbazyan.
