State Duma Deputy Proposes to Ban Parcel Deliveries from Chinese Online Stores

State Duma Deputy Vitaly Milonov has proposed to the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, and the General Director of Russian Post, Nikolai Podguzov, to suspend the delivery of goods from Chinese online stores to Russia until the situation related to the coronavirus stabilizes. This was reported by the RIA Novosti agency.

Milonov writes in his appeals that it is still unclear how the spread of the infection occurs, which treatment method is suitable for the infected, and how the virus behaves in a "sleep mode."

"It should be noted that despite border restrictions and sanitary measures, there is an uncontrolled bacteriological exchange between Russia and China through postal services. Millions of Russians, despite the viral threat, continue to buy and order goods from online platforms without any precautionary measures," the deputy notes.

"Moreover, potentially viral packages could infect all postal offices in Russia with deadly bacteria. In this situation, I request you to consider the possibility of an emergency suspension of the operations of Chinese online stores for the Russian Federation until the sanitary situation in the world is resolved," Deputy Milonov added.
