Appeal Filed Against Decision to Arrest Kostanyan
The decision to arrest former Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan has been appealed to the Court of Cassation. This was reported to Pashtinfo by Kostanyan's lawyer Gevorg Gevorgyan.
It is noteworthy that the Investigative Committee announced on November 25 that Gevorg Kostanyan was involved as a defendant in the March 1 case, but it was only 10 days later, on December 5, that the charges against him were made public. Accordingly, he is accused under five articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia: Article 314, part 1; Article 38-308, part 2; Article 38-314, part 1; Article 38-334, part 1; and Article 38-349, part 3, point 1. These charges include committing official forgery, assisting in the abuse of official powers leading to grave consequences, assisting in official forgery, aiding in the concealment of serious or particularly serious crimes, and assisting in the falsification of evidence related to serious or particularly serious crimes.
