Heirs of March 1 Victims Sue Margarita Khachatryan, Satenik Khlygithyan, and Narek Mutafyan
The heirs of the nine victims of March 1 have filed a lawsuit against Margarita Khachatryan, president of the "Soldier's Mother" NGO, and Satenik Khlygithyan, head of the "Do Not Make Us Absent" NGO, as reported by armtimes.com.
The lawsuit has been filed by Sargis Kloyan, Vachagan Farmanyan, Rouzanna Harutyunyan, Alla Hovhannisyan, Edik Harutyunyan, Mariam Hovhannisyan, Lilia Minasyan, Gemma Vardumyan, and Varduhi Baghdasaryan.
They demand compensation for damages caused to their honor and dignity. The lawsuit was submitted on January 22 and has been assigned to Judge Liza Grigoryan of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction.
Tigran Egoryan, the representative of the March 1 heirs, stated in our conversation that they require an apology from Margarita Khachatryan and Satenik Khlygithyan for their statements made regarding the victims.
When asked about the nature of the statements, Egoryan replied, "It concerns the characterization of the citizens who went out on March 1 and participated in the events occurring outside. They claimed that these individuals went out to commit street theft and to engage in a power struggle. It is unacceptable to attribute such actions to those citizens who went out to express their constitutional demands, including the nine victims I represent."
The attorney noted that beyond the apology, they do not have other demands from them. Furthermore, the heirs of the March 1 victims have also filed a lawsuit against Narek Mutafyan, a supporter of Robert Kocharian, with the same demands.
Addressing the question of why they have filed a lawsuit against Mutafyan, Egoryan stated, "He claimed to sell the graves of relatives for 30 million drams." When asked what they demand from Mutafyan, he responded, "Narek Mutafyan must compensate financially. In our assessment, the amount should be the maximum allowable for defamation, which is 1 million drams." This lawsuit has also been assigned to Judge Armenuhi Badiryans of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction.
