Human Rights Defender Investigates Closures of Maternity Hospitals in Artashat and Achajur Communities
The Human Rights Defender has initiated an investigation concerning the discontinuation of maternity services in Artashat and Achajur communities. Specifically, at the directive of the Defender, the staff has examined citizens' complaints regarding the closure of maternity hospitals, including concerns that the closure would hinder access to medical care.
The investigation has also considered complaints from the relevant medical personnel. Taking these complaints into account, the Human Rights Defender has sent a written inquiry to the Ministry of Health and the appropriate regional administrations. Clarifications have also been requested regarding the government’s planned policies and principles in this sector.
It is noteworthy that previously, related to the closure of the maternity hospital in Maralik, the Human Rights Defender discussed the issue with the Minister of Health and the Governor of Shirak, and also sent a written inquiry.
