Armenian Pilot Has No Connection to Soleimani's Assassination
Israeli political analyst and commentator Avigdor Eskin has made a statement expressing gratitude to Armenian-American General Jeffrey (Jeff) Harrigan for his role in the operation that resulted in the assassination of Qasem Soleimani, the commander of the IRGC's Quds Force. The analyst specifically stated, “Special thanks to U.S. Air Force General Jeffrey Harrigan, the descendant of survivors of the Armenian Genocide, for his role in eliminating Soleimani.”
The Fact-Check Center reports that the Armenian general has no connection to these operations, having been appointed as the commander of U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Africa back in June 2019, a position that does not include the Middle East. In other words, the region in question is not under the command of the Armenian general.
In this context, invoking the name of Armenia or the Armenian people and attempting to draw them into the conflict is seen as provocative and dangerous. Yesterday, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a conference that Armenia would not engage in either anti-Iranian or anti-American actions, and he called on friendly countries, Iran and the U.S., to engage in negotiations immediately to avoid further deterioration of the situation.
