Zhamanak: 20,000 Dram Fine for Driving Without Winter Tires
Zhamanak newspaper reports that two MPs from the Prosperous Armenia Party, Artur Dallakyan and Artyom Tsarukyan, have introduced a legislative proposal to amend the Code of Administrative Offenses. They propose a fine of 20,000 drams for drivers who operate vehicles without winter tires from December 1 to March 31.
This is certainly a good proposal aimed at ensuring the safety of both drivers and their passengers. However, by the same logic, one could call for a ban on the operation of vehicles without airbags or without an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). Members of the Prosperous Armenia Party might also suggest banning the use of vehicles without accompanying security details, again under the pretext of ensuring passenger safety.
