The Number of Armenian Citizens Seeking Asylum in European Union Countries Decreased
In the months of July to September of this year, 2,670 citizens of the Republic of Armenia sought asylum in EU member states for the first time. This was reported by the Armenian Migration Service. Compared to the same period last year, this figure has decreased by 1,100 or 29%.
During the early months of 2019, there was also a noticeable decline in the number of Armenian citizens included in current asylum applications, dropping from 10,320 to 8,930 by the end of the month.
The main destination countries for Armenian asylum seekers have been France, Germany, and the Czech Republic.
